Like traffic jams, text and phone scams regularly muck up digital highways. Now there is a current text and phone scam that drivers need to pay particular attention to avoid. The Owner-Operator Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) released a news release on January 4th, 2023 about a scam text, via there news site Land Line.


Text Scammers


A member driver of the OOIDA received a text message advising him that there is “an Error with your USDOT” and in order to “keep driving with no interruption”, the driver would have to reach out and provide further information. This scam is an attempt at either charge you money for MCS-150s for hundreds of dollars when, this is something drivers can do for free.


Always Verify


It is important to know that the DOT will not contact you via text, there is tons of text and phone scams out there it is important to avoid being caught in one. When in doubt, always confirm and never give out important information without verifying. It is important for Truckers to be mindful on the road and with their information.
